Calendula officinalis, commonly known as calendula or pot marigold, is a cheerful herb known for its bright orange and yellow flowers. Native to the Mediterranean region and now grown throughout much of the world, calendula has been used for centuries in traditional herbal practices, foods, dyes, and skincare.

Calendula flowers can be steeped as tea, added to herbal blends, or infused into oils for use in lotions, creams, salves, and balms. Traditionally valued for supporting healthy skin, calendula has a long history of use in European herbalism, Ayurveda, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Its colorful, edible petals have also been used to brighten foods and were once known as “poor man’s saffron.”

Directions

To prepare as a tea, pour 8 oz. boiling water over 1 tsp. of herb. Cover and steep for 5-10 minutes, strain and serve immediately.
