Knowing Your Nature: Southern Folk Constitutional Herbalism Workshop
Have you ever noticed that two people can eat the same foods, face the same stress, or catch the same seasonal bug and respond completely differently?
One gets anxious and can’t sleep. One becomes irritable and overheated. One gets congested and sluggish. One crashes under a blanket and avoids humanity.
Traditional herbalists noticed these patterns long before modern wellness trends gave everything a hashtag.
Join us for Knowing Your Nature, an immersive herbal workshop exploring constitutional herbalism through a Southern folk medicine lens, inspired by the teachings of Phyllis Light.
In this class, we’ll explore the traditional idea that different people tend toward different physical and emotional patterns - and how herbs, food, and lifestyle choices may be selected with those tendencies in mind.
We’ll cover:
🌿 Earth, Air, Fire, and Water constitutional types
🌿 Personality tendencies and physical patterns
🌿 Common imbalance patterns
🌿 Herbs traditionally associated with each constitution
🌿 Supportive foods and lifestyle habits
🌿 A brief look at the roots of constitutional herbal thinking, including old European humoral systems and Eclectic herbal traditions
🌿 A written constitutional self-assessment to help you identify your own tendencies
🌿 A hands-on tea blending activity, where you’ll create a custom herbal tea to take home based on your constitution
Most people are not purely one type, which is where things get really interesting.
